How about them Blue Jays? What a question! Sometimes it is brought up to change the conversation, or in my case to start one. The Jays have been playing great baseball in the month of August, going 9-5 and winning clutch series against the Yankees, (2-1) and sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays in 3 games. We already know that, but the Jays continued their late summer ways into Oakland through a California Road trip and not only came away with Ricky Romero locked up but Shaun Marcum, perhaps the only Jays pitcher to be struggling threw literally in all sense a one hit wonder, going the nine strong innings against the Athletics, while giving up only a single 7th inning homer to Connor Jackson. The club batted in 3 runs, enough to give them the win as they improved to 63-55 on the year.
Jose Bautista went yard, even if not legally, the hard way as he hit his league leading 37th homerun, off of Anderson in the fourth inning. The shot, which was knocked off a 3-0 count hit the foul pole, subsequently leaving left fielder Conner Jackson stunned. Jim Timmins the third base umpire had called the shot fair, yet Jackson was aware the ball had been foul and he left it for the ball boy, who never, because of the blown call got a chance at it.
It was like every other controversial call, especially when the games are close, raises the question how much is too much... Concerning the inclusion of instant replay... I do understand that it is crucial and if implemented could save many games, possibly including this one had Marcum not thrown Canada's boys another gem. Yet on the other hand it takes away from the originality of the game... But so do steroids and the league isn't too hyped to remove the name and asterisk away so why not?
For those interested, I'm going to do a video tonight on my Youtube channel, GiantJosh23, last video was when I started the blog in April, it's very poor quality but the site here has picked up some ground since then so feel free to take a look, for a heads up it's basically a recap of today! Finally I'd appreciate your thoughts on Instant Replay being implemented into the MLB on a wider scale! Poll box is to your left, or feel free to comment! Thanks!
